Update: Rogero has released the latest version of his custom firmware with Rogero 4.40 v1.02 cfw (can be installed via XMB). Here’s the link for the tutorial on How to install Rogero 4.40 v1.02 on your PS3
Rogero is back again with a new improved 4.30 v2.05 CFW for your PS3, if you have been following the custom firmware scene you know the latest available custom firmware is the Rogero 4.30 cfw. Although it had some minor hiccups, it was a pretty solid cfw. And now with the 4.30 v2.05 update a lot of fixes has been included like the demo mode bug among others.
The best thing about the Rogero 4.30 v2 cfw is that you can now install it from the XMB, and installing it via recovery mode is not required anymore.
Here’s how to install Rogero 4.30 v2.05 on your PS3:
Installation Files:
Download Rogero 4.30 v2.05 cfw here (Mirror Here) (another mirror here)
Requirements:
A USB Flash drive (Must be big enough to accommodate the installation files) or an external HD
A PS3 running Official Firmware version 3.55 or
A PS3 running on 3.55 Kmeaw cfw or
A PS3 running on Rogero 3.55 cfw or
A PS3 running on Rogero 4.21 cfw or
A PS3 running on Rogero 4.30 cfw
(other types of cfw not mentioned here have been reported to work but the ones mentioned here are the most common ones that have been confirmed to work)
This will NOT WORK on PS3′s running any Official Firmware higher than 3.55 (you will need to downgrade to 3.55 first.)
Also, if you come from a downgraded PS3 (you were on a firmware 3.60 or higher and then downgraded to 3.55) you would need to Dehash your PS3 first.
Here are the steps:
IMPORTANT!
Remove any discs inside your PS3 when performing the update, if you do not, there is a big chance that the PS3 will install the latest Official Firmware that is loaded in Disc instead of the CFW that you want to install. If that happens, you will be stuck with the Official Firmware and would need to Downgrade your PS3 if you want it to run CFW. (Downgrading a PS3 from any Official Firmware version higher than 3.55 is not an easy task and would need hardware flashers etc.)
Note: If you are installing from 3.55, remember to Toggle QA Flag first for a safer install. If you do not know how to do it, here is a tutorial on How to Toggle QA Flag.
1. Download the file “Rogero_CEX_4.30_v2.05.PUP “ and rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP
2. Create a new folder on the Root of your USB flash drive or External HD and name it “PS3” ( it would look like this: x:PS3 where X is the drive)
3. Create a new folder inside the “PS3” folder we just created and name it “UPDATE” . ( it would now look like this: x:PS3/UPDATE)
4. Copy the PS3UPDAT.PUP file we renamed and place it inside the “UPDATE” folder we just created. ( it should now go something like this: x:PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP)
3. Insert your USB or External HD into your PS3
4. Turn on your PS3, go to System update and select “Update via Storage Media”
5. Just follow any on screen instructions that would come up.
6. And you’re done!
Alternatively, here are the steps on how to install Rogero 4.30 v2.05 via recovery mode:
-
5. While your PS3 is on, turn it off by pressing and holding the power button until it turns off
6. When the PS3 is OFF, press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps
7. When this happens, the PS3 should boot up in recovery Mode (if it does not, repeat steps 5 and 6)
8. While on recovery mode, select option 6 (System Update)
9. Just follow any on screen instructions that would come up.
10. And you’re done!
Note: if you notice, this tutorial is almost very much the same with my old tutorial on the first how to install Rogero 4.30 on your PS3, but this time you can install this update safely via the XMB.
After updating to Rogero 4.30 v2.05 you would need to update your Multiman to compliment your new updated CFW, here’s the link on How to install Multiman 4.18.0.
Credits and kudos of course goes to Rogero and the helpful people over at Tortuga-Cove
“This CFW was tested on most PS3 Models by different testers and no problems were encountered. But as any CFW release you must install it with caution and by following proper instructions, No one will be held responsible for any damage caused.” – Rogero

Sir my ps3 starts freezing and skipping after i watch dvd movie on rogero 4.30 v2.03 so i tried to update to 4.30 v2.05 but still same problem occurs after my update. I dont know i think i have corrupted ps3 data somehow so im planning to Restore PS3 system # 5 in Recovery menu or Hard Reset my PS3. My question is after i done this 2 options, it will remove my jailbreak or not? If yes which ofw i will have after ive done this, i dont know my stock firmware also if incase i lose my jb i can return it back. Tnx..
You can try to “Restore Default Settings” and see if it fixes the problem. Be careful though, DO NOT use the “Restore PS3 System” because it will delete everything on your hard drive clean. (Both options, does not affect your current firmware though.)
Also, try checking if your HD is already at max capacity. Also check the disc, could just be a case of a dirty disc.
Meaning sir if I will choose either “Restore Default Settings” or “Restore PS3 System” will not affect my Rogero 4.30 v2.05 custom firmware. I can still play backup games and install home brew apps?
Yes.
thnaks sir!!!
Sir, I already did “Restore Default Settings” but still freezing /skipping issue was there. My HDD have a lot of space. I was notice it also during cinematic scene before game play, it freezes/skips, now i’m planning to HARD RESET/SYSTEM RESET my console (turn off the power and turn off the main power in back. While holding the power on button in front, turn on the power in back and release the front power button AFTER the second beep. You will need to redo all your settings since the reset will clear everything). My questions is, if i will do this HARD RESET/SYSTEM RESET, it will also remove my Jailbreak or not? Tnx!
No it will not remove or affect your firmware. I tried to replicate this on a PS3 with 4.30 v2.05 but did not encounter the same problem you have.
I will try next “RESTORE PS3 SYSTEM”, if not work then i will do “HARD RESET”. Both options as you said will NOT affect/ERASE my CFW. If still not work i think the problem is with my HDD as they said i need to change HDD…But sir, now my question is what is the Difference between RESTORE PS3 SYSTEM and HARD RESET? or this are both the same thing…? I don’t know why I have strange problem now. Hope it can be solve with my remaining options…
Those 2 are diferent, the Restore Default Settings will only reset the user profiles, themes and others. While the Restore PS3 System will restore the whole system (except firmware of course), inlcuding wiping your PS3′s hardrive clean as if it was newly bought.
Sir, thanks for your answers. I already did both “Restore Dafault Settings” & “Restore PS3 System” but unfortunately my freezing/skipping problem still there. I’m planning to HARD RESET now, i just what to know the difference beteween “Restore PS3 System” & “HArd Reset”. Are these 2 having thesame or different result after?
Restore Default Settings would only delete you user info, reset themes etc while Restore PS3 System would delete everything including wiping your HD clean.
Both however, would not affect the firmware.
is there any big chance my ps3 will brick because i install it from XMB menu?
how can i toogle QA if i install it from recovery mode?
Low chance, but as with any cfw, the chances of bricking will always be there.
Rogero himself states that:
“This CFW was tested on most PS3 Models by different testers and no problems were encountered. But as any CFW release you must install it with caution and by following proper instructions, No one will be held responsible for any damage caused.”
hi, Using rogero 2.05, i copied some of my cd’s to an external hard drive. but ps3 cannot read some of them , tries to ”verify” but verifying never ends. I plan to change my hard drive. My question is: so i want to know how can i change hard drive? and if i change it, will my cfw disappear? my original ofw was 3.55, what will happen if i change hard drive? thanks…
if i do as following will it work? can you tell me please:
At the moment I have cfw 4.30 v2.05 on ps3.
I will backup my current ps3 hdd to an external hard drive using ps3′s original backup utility.
I will install the new bigger hard drive, then I will install OFW 3.55, then
I will restore my old data, then
I will install CFW 4.30.
Is this OK? can i follow this steps? is ”backing up from cracked ps3 and then restoring to ps3 with OFW 3.55 and then installing CFW 4.30” a problem?
thanks…
I don’t have any experience swiping out a new hard drive yet so I cannot give a proper answer to this. If I ever have an answer I think this will deserve a new article so I can cover the basic step by step procedure, till then I can only say you should proceed with caution.
Can anyone confirm if this can be updated directly from 3.55 TRUE BLUE CFW?
i recently updated to rogero 4.30v2.05 but now how too install multi man and where r the links.
thanks in advance
You can get Multiman ver 04.17.05 for your Rogero 4.30 here: http://adf.ly/HDl23
The problem is I have not installed multiman earlier
I’ve tried playing Rise of the guardians DUPLEX release using multiman 04.12.00 externally and internally. It brings me back to XMB and gives error code, “An error occurred during the start operation (80010017). PS3′s running on Rogero CFW 4.30 v2.05. What am I doing wrong? :\
There is a new update to Multiman, try reading here: http://tech4idiots.org/2013/01/14/how-to-install-multiman-4-18-02/

is there any recomended MM for Rogero CFW 4.30 v2.05?????
Try this: http://tech4idiots.org/2013/01/14/how-to-install-multiman-4-18-02/
Why is toggle QA important? Do I HAVE to do it? (I have installed kmeaw 3.55 – never have to downgrade to install CFW) … Can I just install rogero 4.30 v 2.05 from update in xmb without QA toggle?
No need, i install mine directly on 3.55 kmeaw
is this true????
http://www.cobra-ode.com/products.html
I would never trust those, they are just like the True Blue guys. I read that they take stuff freely from the homebrew scene, add some really non essential and very minor features and wrap in DRM to make money.
They are just a bunch of money hungry devs.
but it’s very hot top topic in all forum…they very sure bout that…and someone in one forum (i Forgot which the forum) has confirmed that news really f**k true….he/she very very very sure
if it true..what do you thing bout sony would do????will sony release some new series for their consol maybe 5xxx series..fufufufuf i really excited to wait february……
SIr, will this work on 4.31?
Yes
yes!
before i install this i have question. i have a little problem, the “install package file” is missing on my xmb after upgrading from 3.55 to 4.30 and my multiman is not working its giving me an error “80010017″.
Are you sure you installed Rogero 4.30?
no i haven’t installed yet rogero 4.30. I installed cfw 4.31 from ps3jail and gave this problem. Does installing rogero 4.30 will solve this?
Does the Rogero Logo show up everytime you load up the PS3?
No sir. the PS3 logo indeed
i did not install any rogero on my ps3
What CFW are you running? because from the signs you mentioned you may very well be running OFW and not CFW
yes!
pls help!
maybe corupted file from downloading……you must download some showtime.PKG file for cfw 4.30 v1..this mm not rcomended for cfw V1..if you want instal cfw 4.30 reg v2.05 you must downgrade your consol. to ofw 3.55 from cfw 4.30V1
does installing showtime.pkg will bring back “install package file” on xmb. and will load the multiman
?
owh…so that the problome….you just instal cfw 4.30v2.05 or spoof 3.41..and then there is no folder instal pack..
the first thing you must do b4 instaled the new cfw you must instal mm and all pkg in cfw 3.55..so it meaning..you must downgrade your cfw to ofw 3.55 and then instal 3.55kmew.at that point you must instal the new multiman and all pack.then update again to cfw 4.30v2..
but in cfw 4.30v2 if you have instaled mm before update ..you can instaled and update the Packs via multiman..
It would seem that either you are not in CFW or using a totally different CFW or in OFW.
What was your Firmware prior to installing from ps3jail?
Hi my ps3 is on 3.55 OFW and it’s never been soft modded. Can I still install rogero 4.30 from XMB? Thank you.
Yes, but i would suggest the safer route, Toggle QA, then install Rogero 3.55 first via Recovery mode, and then Toggle QA again and then recovery mode, install Rogero 4.30 cfw
Thank you for your reply. Do you have a guide for installing rogero 3.55? Also I just realised I’m actually on 3.50 OFW. So would I need to upgrade to 3.55 OFW first? Thank you
You do not need to install 3.55 OFW, you can directly install 3.55 cfw (rogero) and when you are in 3.55 cfw, then you can install Rogero 4.30
Thanks
Yes
See the installation details above
I have 3.55 kmeaw with all my games on the internal drive (1TB internal). If I update to Rogero 4.30 through XBM, will it erase multiman games and ROMs? Or will it only affect system data and my files are untouched? Pretty much, should i backup to external first?
Tech84, many thanks for this tut! it worked like a charm.
You’re welcome!
Hey how is it going? I would like to thank you I follow your instruction step by step and I finally managed to upgrade my PS3 slim to Rogero 4.30 now I can play games online like call of duty, but unfortunately I have a problem with some games it doesn’t work like ACR “BLES01466″ and DMC “BLES01698″ finally Deus EX revolution “BLES01150″ and also farcry 3 “no saving during playing” – another think I’ve noticed on my xmb it shows that my CFW is 4.31 I though it has to be 4.30 not 4.31 anyway I strongly need to make this games work like it were before on 3.55 it gives me black screen however I choose permission and also mirror but the same result “black screen” any advice please
Hey, the 4.31 is normal Rogero made that so it would be able to also play games that require 4.31. As for the games not working, a couple of possibilities though, one way is do delete the “game Data” on the ps3 then install it again. Or the games have been modified to play on 3.55 and would need to be “resigned” to it’s original eboot.
im not able to sign in plz help
One Question.
I brought a new ps3 with a older firmware 3.14. Do I need to update to 3.55 OFW before I install custom firmware?
I did custom firmware before but a friend of mine updated to OFW when playing on one of his games
You can install the Rogero 3.55 over your 3.14, and then you can install higher custom firmwares (Rogero 4.30)
” I did custom firmware before but a friend of mine updated to OFW when playing on one of his games ”
Make sure that there is no game inside the PS3 when updating your CFW.
hi sir i have is it safe to intall cfw 4.30 v2.05 in my ps3 because my current firmware is 4.25 and i dont see 4.25 on the list of you provide above PS3 requirement for intalling.
Hi there,
Unfortunately you will not be able to install rogero 4.30 on your ps3 because it is running official firmware 4.25
i think my firmware is not official. its been jailbroken and i’ve already playing some iso games but there is a game i want to play (DMC) that need cfw 4.30 that is why i want to know if it is ok or safe to update my firmware 4.25 to 4.30?
What custom firmware are you running?
I don’t think its Rogero because he only has new CFW for 4.21 and 4.30.
Maybe you are running Rogero 4.21 that has been spoofed to 4.25? Not sure though.
when i turn on and start my ps3 rogero name appears and i dont think any custom firmware because i only knows one which is rogero.. when i check my system it shows 4.25 and im using also multiman
Then it means you are already running Rogero, you can update to 4.30 if you want
i’m confused with my firmware when i try to check my firmware trough XMB menu its says 4.25 version but when i try to check it inside multiman 4.18.0 it says my firmware is 3.55.
Can i just downgrade my firmware to 3.55 (even though miltiman says i am already 3.55) and toggle QA then install 4.30? I tried to install 4.30 but it doesnt work on my current firmware
Yes that would be one way to fix your problem.
my system information shows version 4.31. did my installation work?
Yes, try playing some games.
sir. i UPDATED my PS3 fat to 4.31 Ps3 install package file is missing but i don’t know how i can downgrade to other cfw or ofw please help me to how find the software and get it free without E3 flasher
Hello i have a question. The Tutorial tells me to enable QA Flags.
So my question is – can i enable them from a OFW 3.55 or do i actually need to install a lower version or Rogero, then install Multiman (lower version too), then make a backup of the PS3 and then enable QA Flags? Because that’s what it looks like.
Or
Can i simply install the latest Rogero vie Recovery console and then activate QA Flags once Rogero 4.30 is on?
Another quick question – does the Multiman Backup help unbrick a system? How is it useful?
Thanks a lot!
I would suggest this first,
3.55 OFW -> 355 CFW -> Rogero 4.30 v2
as for the brick using multiman I do not know if that is possible.
kinda hard to explain, but in laymans terms, it sort of readies your system for a firmware upgrade
Sir, is it possible to go online?
yes
Thank you
hey, I hope this message finds you well,
I have a small question, it’s about QA toggle, what it’s used for? I’m asking that question because after flashing Rogero 4.30 it’s stopped working every time I try to run it, My PS gives me an error message?
Well since we cleared that i should first install a lower version of rogero (CFW 3.55) and then update it to the latest afterwards i would like to know if there is a complete tutorial on what to do from 4.55 OFW to the last Multiman and Rogero. With Links would be best. Because this one here tells me to directly go for the last version, which apparently is not the right way if you start from a clean 3.55
Thanks a lot!
Hi Nino,
(4.55 OFW? I’m assuming this is a typo for 3.55 OFW?).When the first Rogero 4.21 came out it was prone to bricking and the safest way to upgrade to that was to install 3.55 CFW first if you were on 3.55 OFW and then install the higher firmware, so I got stuck with that notion.
I have read that the ‘Install package file’ option in the Game section in XMB was removed. How can we install the latest Multiman? Thanks.
Where did you read it? I am unable to replicate that when I installed mine.
One possible way is that on the XMB there was a “Tools” folder added on the XMB? You can revert that back by pressing square to change the view.
Thank you. Can’t remember where I read that, though. But I’ll try to find it.
Another thing:
I have several games running on 3.55 fix, if I will upgrade to 4.30, do I have to collect the original eboots for those games? Or will they work on 4.30?
I have searched this over the web, and some people say the original eboots are needed while others say otherwise. I don’t want to upgrade till I have those eboots if ever they are really needed.
Thank you guys. I’ll share this site to my friends.
As for the 3.55 fix, yes it’s true that 4.30 would need the untouched eboots because, these eboots were modified to run on 3.55.
About looking for the original eboots, I would suggest you try out which games run with the updated firmware before completely looking for the original eboots for all your games.
(There were some eboot re-signers released but I have yet to test them before I advise others about using them)
Thanks sir. You’re a great help. I’ll go and update my PS3 in a little while. I’ll be back on this site whenever I’m not holding the controller.
hi i tried playing DMC and KOA but both did not load and an error occur did my installation of rogero 4.31 fails?
do your other games play?
yep my other previous working games still works. DMC says it works well with cfw4.30 but error occur always show when i try to load it also with KOA. I fear that i have failed installing the new firmware and im stuck in 3.55 though it shows 4.31
You can try changing the game settings in multiman, toggle bd mirror and external. This has worked for me on some games like Dead Island
Thanks!
is it possible upgrade from 4.11 cfw to rogero 4.30 ?
is it need to downgrade 4.11 cfw to 3.55 cfw ? how to downgrade it to 3.55 ?
Another question, when using a USB stick do i have to Format it to FAT32 as well? Or does this only count for External HDD?
Yes it needs to be FAT32
I would like to know if it’s possible to downgrade from OFW 4.25 to OFW 3.55 or CFW 3.55…
I really need to do it if I want to install Rogero’s last CFW…
Anyone help?!
pls help me, I installed the QA and updated the system with rogero 4.20 v2.05 and i cant play because i originally play with a disk mounted.. pls help me.. tnx..

Worked like a charm. Thanks to this.
Hi
i downloaded last version from http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/index.htm
when i go to my old mM say an error occurred during the start operation 80010017
my Question is if now i only install mM last version this problem will be solution ?
If you downloaded the update from the Playstation site, it means you have downloaded an official firmware, which will not allow you to play your backed-up games using multiman. Where you running CFW and then installed the update?
from myself- from game shop they told me i have to update my ps3 that time i can play new games like the run
the i downloaded from PlayStation site i didnt know . i mustb using custom firmware .but before update we using mM to play mean from memory stick without purchasing the disc .
i dont know what should i do can u suggest something for me to using mM such as before ?

I AM SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH
from myself- from game shop they told me i have to update my ps3 that time i can play new games like the run
didn’t know that i must using custom firmware to mM
i don’t know what I should do ?

if i restore ps3 system (full format) after can i update ur cfw or it damage ps3 system ?
THANK YOU for ur answer
Unfortunately if you have a PS3 with a firmware higher than 3.55, you would need a hardware flasher in order to install CFW. Multiman only works for CFW
But if you look on the bright side, you can now buy and play new PS3 games that require higher firmwares.
what about system restore ps3 ?
u mean there have no solution for my problem ?
A system restore would only restore the PS3 into a brand new state, but it does not affect the firmware. The firmware will not be reverted back.
so how to make my own ps3 cfw at the first ? or i could not do this or need a new hardware ?
(just give a link i will do all)
thnx .
reading you comments, you can go to where you bought the PS3 and ask if they have hardware flasher. usually those shops have them.
ok thnx
hai how r u sir ji…
sir i have ps3 super slim, how to crack rogero 4.30

Can’t definitively say, one thing to find out is to install 4.30v2.05 and if it does it means its not v2.05

Yes you can access and play online with PSN but I read sony is more strict at catching online players running CFW

No need, you can directly install this over your 3.55 cfw. Also there a newer cfw which is rogero 4.40 cfw
hi there, I forgot to remove the disk when updating, and although the multiman and rogero are still there, after I choose my game in multiman, the disk is still the original game from the disk, not the game I chose. how to fix that?
try removing the disk before running the game
Yeah, I tried that as well, but then I can’t play the game I chose at multiman. Can I fix this by downgrading to cfw 3.55 or upgrading to 4.40?
You can do that.
