PS3 Official firmware 4.40 now available

Sony has rolled out a new update for the PlayStation 3 system with the PS3 4.40 update. It’s just a minor update to improve system stability along with some updates regarding PS3 compatibility with the RC-S380 Sony Card Reader.

Here are the 4.40 update details taken from the Japanese PlayStation website (Translated obviously)

The main features included in the PS3 4.40 update:

  • I corresponding to (RC-S380 Sony Corporation products) IC card reader / writer PaSoRi non-contact.
  • The system software to improve the stability of the operation.

The update is still just being rolled out, and as of posting it’s still not even available over at the US and UK PlayStation websites, stay tuned for more info regarding the update as more news comes to surface.



Note: To PS3 CFW users, you might want to stay away from this update, because installing the new Official firmware update will remove the homebrew capabilities of your PS3.

    My brother installed this update and now I cant play games, i was using rogero 4.30, is there any way I can undo the update???
