Apple Watch OS OS 1.0.1

Although the Apple Watch has only been available for about a month now, Apple has already pushed out it’s first software update for the Apple Watch.

The update bring performance improvements for Siri, Accessibility, some fitness tracking functions, measuring stand activity, new emojis (same with the ones introduced in iOS 8.3), and improvements for third-party apps.

For the fitness tracking, measurements in calorie counting for indoor cycling and rowing, and measuring distance and pace for walking and running outdoors have all received an improvement in this update.

Apple has also released a list of the security patches it has included in the update:

  • Certificate Trust Policy
  • FontParser
  • Foundation
  • IOHIDFamily
  • IOAcceleratorFamily
  • Kernel
  • Secure Transport

You can view the full list and information about these security updates from the Apple website here.

To install the Watch OS 1.0.1 update:

Go to app > General > Software Update and then prompt to check for an update.

You will then be alerted that the Apple Watch requires to be within range of your iPhone, while connected to its charger, and have a battery power of 50% or higher.

Please note: The installation will be paused if your watch fail to meet any of the requirements above.
