Windows 10 is scheduled to launch next week and users are already excited to see what the new OS from Microsoft will bring. But with every operating system update, we also have to take into consideration the compatibility issues that may arise with your current favorite programs.

Sure, recent operating system versions released over the past few years (win 7, 8 etc) program compatibility has not been a big issue anymore as these newer operating system tend to be more friendly to older programs. But still, if you still own older versions of programs, like say, Photoshop 3 or 4, it might not work with a more recent OS.

Thankfully, popular programs tend to get updated regularly, to either release bug fixes, add new features, or improve system compatibility. Developers spend time and money for this in order to avoid losing customers who like to adapt and update to newer technology. And releasing updates is critical especially if the program in question plays a vital role in you PC’s overall health.

Vital programs such as your Anti-Virus should always be up to date, and any incompatibility issues with the OS could be potentially disastrous. And surely, Windows 10 is one of the platforms they are targeting with the Beta program since a lot people are expected to upgrade to Windows 10 once it releases. Not to mention that a lot of people are expected update once it comes out because Windows 10 will be available for free.

So if you still use some older programs you might want to rethink about updating to Windows 10 the moment it arrives, you might want wait a little and wait for any updates or any news about compatibility issues if there are any. And make sure your vital programs like your Antivirus is updated and ready to take on the new and exciting OS.
