My BT Vision is taking a bit of a pounding at the moment I must admit. Since I realised I could watch new releases, or relatively new ones anyway, on my Vision Box Office I took advantage of the rubbish weather to catch up on Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows.

Now I’m a bit of a Sherlock fan actually. I’ve read all the books about a million times and seen plenty of episodes of every TV incarnation (Jeremy Brett is my favourite – watch out for reruns on ITV3 from time to time).

And unlike most Sherlockians, I have to confess to liking Game of Shadows just as much as the BBC’s recent slick modern Cumberbatch version.

Fellow BT Vision users seem to take exception to the special effects and technical whizz-bangery that characterises Guy Ritchie’s latest movie. The general complaint seems to be that a man capable of producing such godawful twaddle as Revolver shouldn’t be let anywhere near the hallowed text of Sherlock.

Of course that misses the point that Mr Ritchie had no authorial hand in Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. He just directed it, which he does with flair and considerable affection for the subject. If you want two and a bit hours’ worth of action, adventure and cracking acting, look no further.

On mainstream BT Vision, I’ve mostly been watching Film 4 and ITV3. You won’t be surprised to learn that a man who loves Sherlock Holmes is also quite enamoured of any mid 90s detective programme – particularly Cracker or Morse. You won’t beat the former for gritty drama (just check out the first ever episode to see where the modern tendency for super-gory psychiatric crime drama first came from!) and the latter, well what’s to say. It’s Morse and it oozes class.

I must admit I’ve also started using my BT Vision package to listen to the radio. A compulsive radio-while-you-worker, I’ve been catching up with all sorts of Radio 4 offerings in the background while I scribble my latest blog post or review my latest movie. All very convenient – but it doesn’t half mean I have to go back through what I’ve just written to make sure I haven’t just auto-transcribed some lines from Something Understood!

Looking at the current BT Vision listings, I think they get films at the same time as they come out on DVD. To be honest I’m never sure these days. It used to be that you got films in cinemas, films on DVD, then films on the TV. But all these Box Office channels have confused the issue enormously. I don’t know anymore whether I’m watching a film after the DVD release, or before – or even whether I get Box Office at the same time as the film is on at the cinema.

Not that I mind much. Don’t do the cinema except on special occasions now, it costs way too much. So tonight it’ll be Hugo on our BT Vision On Demand.

Being an owner of an Iphone 4s, I have always been curious of actually how does an Iphone cost. Having such a hefty price tag, it nice to know or at least have an idea of how the parts and labor actually adds up to the total actual cost of the Iphone. We cant really avoid the fact that the Iphone is a thing of beauty and it’s the overall design, packaging, and the iOS that makes up for the price and not just by judging the the cost of the individual parts.

Various peripherals have been produced to enhance the gaming experience, and the right combinations can not only heighten the enjoyment but also improve performance. Consider the following must have Xbox360 accessories for gamers:

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

The Xbox 360 can have as much as 4 controllers plugged-in at a single time, and it’s absolutely recommended for avid gamers to have extra controllers and batteries. The Xbox 360 wireless controller allows trouble-free flexibility and mobility. Its high-performance 2.4GHz system can transmit up to 30 feet with undelayed precision. Players can take the fun throughout the room without worrying about getting entangled in wires.

Its has a sleek, ergonomic design with improved shoulder buttons that facilitate ease and comfort. It also features vibration feedback adjustment to conserve battery life.

Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit

The Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit is an essential companion to wireless controllers. Since heavy play usually requires battery changes every two weeks, having this kit will certainly be an advantage.

It conveniently allows recharging without having to connect to the xbox360 console: simply plug into an electrical socket to use. It can power-up one depleted battery pack in less than two hours (or two in less than 4 hours) – much faster than the Charge and Play Kit.

Xbox 360 Wireless headset

Every serious online gamer understands how important a headset is for coordination and performance, and a wireless headset would certainly be appreciated. Not only does it allow more comfort and freedom of movement, but it would prove convenient during those much-needed breaks – no more hassle of de-tangling yourself every time. Comfortable, lightweight and durable, it also delivers crisp audio.

Also equipped with 2.4 GHz technology with a 30-foot range, it works perfectly with the Xbox 360 wireless controller for an excellent, wire-free gaming adventure. Allows 6 to 8 hours of use before requiring a recharge.

A Clever Idea: Go totally wireless!

If you find wires bothersome and altogether messy, why not acquire wireless networking? The Xbox 360 is furnished with an Ethernet cable for connecting to the Internet, but it would be a good idea to invest in a wireless network adaptor and router. This would also add the benefit of a clutter-free gaming area.

The Xbox 360 combined with the wireless controller and headset, plus the advantage of the Quick Charge Kit, guarantees hours of unrivaled gratification. These must-have accessories will greatly optimize enjoyment and the overall gaming experience.

What are your favorite XBox 360 accessories? Tell us in the comments.

The video features the hilarious instances about what would happen if ever Apple decides to introduce Siri technology onto TV’s. The video gives it a hilarious twist, and I found this really funny. As it says in the video description: “Suri TV – Almost ready to revolutionize television.” well, almost.

Although I was abit disappointed for the absence of Siri on the new Ipad, still, Apple has introduced a lot of great features one may expect from the Ipad, most notable is the new retina display, add to that the new iPhoto for the iPad FTW! Anyway, I wrote a post about the announcement of the new Ipad including the all important facts about it’s specs in this article: Apple introduces the The new Ipad.

Probably the most frequent question asked by gamers is how good is their internet connection? Many times this question is then followed by a Speedtest image, which reflects an image of speed from different servers around the globe. The variation is astounding, anything from incredible T3 Fiber-optic connections to 24-40 station DSL connections to DSL residential connections to cable to FiOS. Some residential connections are downright awful, while others are amazingly good. Not all cheap internet service providers are created equal. Some may offer terrible service, but others may offer as good or better service than standard big name providers.

Regardless, the internet service provider is generally the most important aspect determining how fast a connection will be. Some areas have very few options to choose from, in terms of internet service providers, and whatever speed they offer may be the speed you are stuck with. For areas that do have a variation of internet service providers to choose from, there are some that come more recommended than others. Most gamers agree that Verizon offers the ultimate service for gaming needs. Verizon even launched their FiOS service with an emphasis on gaming and had the female gaming team PMS campaigning for them and being spokespersons in their ads. However, FiOS is still not widely available and is mostly used on the east coast of the United States. Go to their site to check current availability.

Verizon’s FiOS has improved quite a bit in recent years, especially in terms of customer service. Most of their infrastructure has been upgraded to a fiber-optic network and they can claim some incredibly fast speeds. In general, there are a ton of different providers throughout the United States and it is often a good idea to check around for feedback and reviews from other gamers before deciding on one. If money is a concern, as mentioned previously, there are many cheap internet service providers out there and not all of them are terrible. Again, check out reviews and feedback and you may find a diamond in the rough.

Fiber Optics connections are usually raved about and if you have ever used one, you probably know why. The Verizon FiOS, for example, usually puts out speeds of 20MB Down and 5MB up. Cable is usually the next choice, being faster than DSL and Dial up, but slower than FiOS. You can generally get from between 3MB and 15MB of bandwidth. However, cable internet is typically shared by several households using the connection within a certain area or neighborhood. Because of this, cable internet can get terribly slow during peak times of use.

DSL is basically a combination of Cable and Dial up. The speeds vary from 768KBs, very fast dial-up, to 3MB, or the lower end of Cable bandwidth. The speeds vary depending on how close you are to the DSL service provider. The closer you are, the better speeds you will get. Unfortunately, upload speeds are always slower than Cable.

For gaming, the most important thing is a consistent download speed. If you are constantly experiencing extreme highs and lows, or spikes, in your download speed, you will generally have a problem. Spiking could be the result of several things, including a bad router, bad equipment or a peak time for internet use. If you live in a college dorm or have Cable internet, spikes are almost unavoidable. Routers and other equipment will need to be tested to optimize them for the connection. The basic rule though is that a high download speed means you will experience less lag. Upload speeds only matter if you are hosting games.

This is a guest article by Ruben Corbo, a writer for the website Broadband Expert where you can find cheap internet service providers in your area and compare prices on different deals for your wireless internet necessities.

Earlier today Apple has finally announced the next generation Ipad. After months of speculation on whether what the new version will be called, Ipad 2s, Ipad 3, Ipad 4g, or Ipad HD, Apple debunked all these rumored names and officially labeled it simply as “The new Ipad”, yes you read that right, “The new Ipad”. It’s name is simple, yet if you ask Tech4idiots, it has an obnoxious and seemingly arrogant tone to it. Mainly because its mostly marketed for those obnoxious arrogant Hipsters.

(Image from Engadget)

During the key-note I was really expecting Tim Cook to mention something about the Siri for the new Ipad, and eventually he did mentioned something about voice dictation but it was not Siri, and eventually it was confirmed that Siri will be absent for the new Ipad. The new retina display rumors were spot on and newer high definition camera for the Ipad is present. Aside from the unveiling of the new Ipad, Tim Cook has also announce the new Apple TV, which is now capable of 1080 Full HD video which is, with today’s modern LCDs a nice upgrade. Specs after the break.

<a href="http://tech4idiots.org/2012/02/28/internet-how-it-changes-our-lives/" target="_blank"">

The internet is really a big part of every person’s life nowadays. I remember before, when I was in Junior High, internet is not a big thing. We have a very limited access and we can only get our free access thanks to the internet program of my friend he got from a prestigious university here. We were really satisfied and happy with the free 30 minutes free internet access we’re getting everyday.

Those were the days – but now, using the net for 30 minutes is like eating just 1 teaspoon of your favorite pie. Internet is now considered as a necessity.

Ten years ago, internet traffic hit its highest peak when the social media hits the cyberspace. It is the era of Friendster and MySpace. People, especially the young ones, are really into these social media websites. How can you resist these kind of websites? They offer you free sign up and you can see all your friends here, even your long lost childhood crush and your future significant other. You can even check the current pictures of your Elementary classmate and even your relatives from abroad. You can also meet new friends just by surfing these websites but sadly, these sites are talking about is so 10 years ago. People are now into Facebook and Twitter which they find more convenient and user friendly, plus, Facebook offers more gaming applications which really attracts social media junkies.

Technology is also catching up with changes on the internet. Now, the latest gadgets are copping up with the internet needs. The best example of this are the smart phones such as iPhone and Android Phones. These phones should be hooked up in the internet to maximize its full potential. You should also update its latest firmware or even download the latest apps using the internet. When it comes to gaming world, the so-called “Next Gen Console” should also connect to the internet. You can get the latest update of the games of these consoles and you can even play with other gamers around the world when you connect your console to the internet.

Internet is really different today. Before we had dial up connection but now, we already enjoying the speed of DSL, Broadband and Wi-Fi connections. Even malls, coffee shops, gasoline stations and other public establishments are now using Wi-Fi connection. Internet also made some things obsolete. We are rarely use snail mail anymore, instead we use e-mail. We rarely use telephones, instead, we chat using chat software and Facebook, we can even see who we are chatting to using video calls. Instead of reading some magazines or making a diary, people now are using and reading blog sites. Even encyclopedias and newspapers became almost obsolete nowadays because people are now checking Wikipedia and other news websites online. We also rarely watch TV or listen to the radio because we have live TV and radio streaming thanks to the internet. You can even do your shopping using some online shopping websites such as Ebay and Craigslist. Instead of using photo albums and your film camera, you can now your picture or upload it using digital cameras or camera phones.

Internet is also a big part when it comes to businesses. Advertisers and Marketing Specialists are now using internet to market their products and services. They are paying good websites to put an advertisement on. Even Google are using Adsense to market their certain products and services. Even Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Page, Founder and CEO of Facebook and Google respectively, are now one of the most renowned businessman and wealthiest man in the world.

Internet is not all about pros, it also has a cons. With almost all the people around the world are using the internet, crime in cyberspace, or what the techies love to say – cybercrime, is also inevitable in the word wide web. Crimes such as theft is normal in the internet. Not just stealing money or property, but also stealing your identity. People are doing this to steal money from your credit card or just simply to stalk you. Intellectual property is also no match with the cybercrime. People are stealing some ideas they got in the internet and use it for there own good or just post it in their websites without even giving credit to the person responsible. Hackers are also using the internet to hack your account and even spread some computer viruses. Even prostitution and selling of illegal stuffs is part of the cybercrime.

Internet is not just want, its a need. People will have a hard time survive a week without an internet. Businesses will lose a lot of money without internet and our minds will be stagnant without the updated information we are getting from the internet so that’s why, it really changes our everyday living and customs so imagine the world without the internet or imagine how the internet will evolve 10-20 years from now.
