How to Access PSN without updating your PS Vita

Written by Tech84 on April 2, 2014

If you want to have access to PSN on your Vita but for some reason you do not want to update it to the latest firmware, we got the answer here for you. As we all know in order to access PSN you would be required to have the latest PS Vita Firmware installed. PlayStation Vita developer iAmGhost has released an update to VitaUpdateBlocker for PS Vita homebrew users.

PS VITA

What it does is that it basically tricks your Vita by using a proxy trick (based from Charles Proxy trick) so that you can gain access to PSN without the need to be on the latest PS Vita Firmware.

You can Download the VitaUpdateBlocker here.

Here’s how to use the VitaUpdateBlocker:

  • Start vita_update_blocker.exe (or python vita_update_blocker.py)
  • Open Settings app on your Vita, Go to Network-Wi-Fi Setting-AP Name-Advances Settings.
  • Change proxy settings to iport that shown on VitaUpdateBlocker.
  • Save settings and open PS Store application.
  • You’ll see front page of store, go Settings app again and disable proxy.
  • Download contents from store or play games online.

  • Note: If you have problems downloading big files, you can:

  • Open Store application with proxy setting.
  • When store main loads, go settings application and disable proxy without killing Store app.
  • Back to Store app and download files.

      Hi,

My Vita is on firmware 3.0.1 with TN-V8, and i can’t get in the PSN store without an update.

Does this method still work? I’ve tried, but it is still asking me to update.

only works on firmware before so for example im on 3.18 latest is 3.30 so i can use this method coz its the last known firmware

I am on 3.18 and can’t get into psn without updating. Every time I try to sign in, it says update required. It looks like the blocker is working, when I try an update, it says I’m on the latest. Any suggestions/ideas?

    4. Ted says:

Looks like Sony has already fixed this, it does not work anymore.
