How to update to iOS8 without getting your stuff deleted

A lot of Apple users right now are fussed about the size needed in order to update to iOS8, for some reason Apple is requiring users to have atleast around 5Gb of free space to install iOS8 on their devices.

And surely we don’t want to delete stuff from our iPhones just to install the iOS8 update. We don’t want to erase all the stuff and have to re-download all your apps, photos, videos music and others stuff in our phones.

Here’s our tip on how to update to iOS8 without having getting your stuff deleted.

Requirements:

1. A PC or Mac with the latest iTunes installed.

2. iOS8 is only available for the iPhone 4S and above so you need to check the list of compatible devices below:

    iPhone 6 Plus
    iPhone 6
    iPhone 5s
    iPhone 5c
    iPhone 5
    iPhone 4s
    iPad Air
    iPad 4
    iPad 3
    iPad 2
    iPad mini 2 with Retina display
    iPad mini
    Fifth-generation iPod touch

Here are the steps:

1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your PC or Mac and open up iTunes.

2. Once connected, go to your device and under Summary, create a back up of your iPhone or iPad by selecting “Back Up Now“.

3. Once the backup is complete, go to your device’s settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then select Erase All Content and Settings

4. Once it’s reset, go to iTunes and select Update, iTunes will now download the iOS8 update.

5. Once it’s done downloading, it will proceed to install the iOS8 update on your device.

6. Once iOS8 is installed, go back to iTunes and select Restore iPhone or Restore iPad depending on your device.

It will now restore everything back to your device and it will go back to everything as it was but now running on the shinny new iOS8.

And there you have it, you just updated to iOS8 without having to delete your stuff just to make space for the update.
