Today, Microsoft has just announced that the Microsoft Office 2016 for MAC preview build is now available for free.

Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac free preview now available

The final Microsoft Office 2016 for MAC will be available later this summer, and Microsoft has made the preview build available for free in order to attract more MAC users by letting them try out the beta version. Users will need to buy the final Microsoft Office 2016 once it gets released if they would want to continue using the product and no word yet on the price of the final build.

The new MS Office is a nice and a welcome upgrade, since the last MS office released for the MAC was released about 5 years ago with MS office 2011. The 2016 version gets an updated look and mixes some aesthetics from the Windows version along with some from the MS Office 2011 MAC version. Also, the ribbon styling from MS Office 2013 has been integrated and support for Microsoft Onedrive that brings more cloud integration in this new version.

Here are some of the notable updates for MS 2016 for MAC:

  • Retina display support has also been included
  • Full-screen mode support for Yosemite
  • New templates for Powerpoint
  • New dual calendar view for Outlook
  • New and better data-analysis tools for Excel
  • Threaded comments for MS Word.

Ofcourse, the Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac free preview version is obviously a beta version, so one should expect to encounter bugs and other stuff that will hopefully be fixed once the final build is released. You can download the free preview of Microsoft Office 2016 for MAC from Microsoft’s website here.
