You need to update your Multiman after you update to the latest Rogero CFW in order to run your original backed up games. (Although T4I supports the homebrew scene, Tech4iditos DOES NOT support piracy)

Here are the steps on How to install Multiman 4.18.02

Tech4idiots has recently posted an article that Google maps is now available for iOS, complete with all the features that we love like Turn by Turn Navigation, Public Transit Directions and Street View. But unfortunately for non-US residents, the App is not available for download from the App Store.

If you try to search for it via the app store, the Google Maps App would not show up on the results and even if you type the URL of the Google Maps App you copied from the browser (Safari, Chrome etc), you would only get a message saying that the App is only available on the US App Store.

That’s really just stupid, so here at T4I, we are here to help you non-US residents. And the answer is very simple. Here is the simple guide on How to download Google maps for non-US residents:

Update: Rogero has released the latest version of his custom firmware with Rogero 4.40 v1.02 cfw (can be installed via XMB). Here’s the link for the tutorial on How to install Rogero 4.40 v1.02 on your PS3

Rogero is back again with a new improved 4.30 v2.05 CFW for your PS3, if you have been following the custom firmware scene you know the latest available custom firmware is the Rogero 4.30 cfw. Although it had some minor hiccups, it was a pretty solid cfw. And now with the 4.30 v2.05 update a lot of fixes has been included like the demo mode bug among others.

The best thing about the Rogero 4.30 v2 cfw is that you can now install it from the XMB, and installing it via recovery mode is not required anymore.

Don’t you find it annoying that companies like Apple requires you to input your credit card details for a new account even though you have no intent on actually purchasing anything from the App Store? Or you just want to download a free app and you don’t want to send your credit card details to Apple?

Back then, creating an Apple ID without a credit card was easy, you can always select “None” when the payment option comes up upon registering. Now it seems that Apple has removed the option “None” when registering a new Apple ID and requires you to enter your credit card details.

Apple ID log in screen

Well good news for you, Tech4idiots has found some ways on How to create an Apple ID without a credit card:

The first one requires you to be on your computer and have iTunes installed. You can download the latest version of iTunes here (the latest version as of writing is iTunes 11). And make sure to “Log Out” any account that it currently logged in. Normally in iTunes, if you go to the store and try to create a new Apple ID, the option to select “None” under payments is unavailable and you will be forced to enter your credit card details. So here’s how to bypass that:

    1. Go to the app store and look for a free app (could be any app, game or anything etc)
    2. Click on download.
    3. It will open up a prompt asking you to log in with an existing Apple ID or create a new one
    4. Here obviously we will select Create a new Apple ID
    5. Just enter the necessary details for your new ID
    6. Under billing we should have the option “NONE” available.
    7. And there you have it, your new Apple ID.

Here is the other way to Create an Apple ID without a credit card while on your iPhone/iPad/iPodTouch or iPad mini:

    1. Open the App Store on your iOS device and look for a free app (could be any app, game or anything etc)

And if all those things above still wont work for you (It seems it varies from country to country?) One thing you can do is to redeem a code, from an iTunes gift Card or for a free app. In this tutorial, we will use a code offered for free from this site: Klove. This can be done while on a Computer on iTunes or while on your iPhone/iPad/iPodTouch or iPad mini. (Note: this also works on already existing Apple ID’s)

    1. Go to this site: http://www.klove.com/music/store.aspx and click on the Download Free song on iTunes.
    2. Simply copy the code for the free song
    3. Go to the App Store and click on “Redeem”
    4. Just enter the Code from the store and then you will be prompted to either log in with an existing Apple ID or Create a new Apple ID
    5. Select Create a new Apple ID
    6. When the Billing option comes up the option “None” would be available and now you can proceed to create an Apple ID without a credit card.
    7. And there you have it, your new Apple ID.

Google Maps now available for iOS

Posted on December 13, 2012

Google maps is back for your Apple devices and it’s better than ever. It’s back with all the things we loved about it, the new Google Maps for iOS has Turn by Turn Navigation, Public Transit Directions and Street View. So you can now finally ditch Apple maps on your iOS device and get the far more superior map application that is, Google Maps.

Although Apple Maps will still be the default mapping system for your iPhone, and you cannot delete it completely (just hide it on a folder where other apps like the “Stocks” belong), it’s still a great development because you know you have access to a native Google Maps app on your device where you can use the much loved Turn by Turn Navigation, Public Transit Directions and Street View.

You can download Google Maps from the App store here.

How to Dehash your PS3

Posted on December 11, 2012

This tutorial is very important for all PS3 owners who have downgraded their PS3’s, (may it be from OFW 3.55+ and used hardware flashers to downgrade back to 3.55, or for those who downgraded from Rogero 3.xx and above) and would like to install the latest Rogero Custom Firmware.

What Dehashing basically does is it resets the PS3’s Syscon hashes back to 3.55 with both “ros0” and “ros1”, making your PS3 back into an original/non-downgraded state and you do not need to worry about disabling LV1 checks when you install any CEX/DEX or the latest PS3 Official Firmware.

(The first part is basically the same with my other tutorial about how to Toggle QA flag on your PS3, Toggle QA only works in 3.55 OFW or CFW)

Here’s How to Dehash your PS3:

1. Download QA Toggle pkg here
2. Copy the file to the root of your USB or external HD
3. Insert your USB/External HD to your PS3
4. On your PS3, go to “Install package Files” and install the QA Toggle PKG
5. Once installed, run the “Rebug Toggle QA” on your PS3, (The screen will go Black and you will hear 2 or 3 Beeps and when finished it will go back to the PS3′s XMB, and if error comes up, just repeat this step.)
6. Go to “Network Settings” (do not open it) then all at the same time, press the following key combo : L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down (its hard you might want to get an extra hand for this)
7. If the QA Flag was done correctly, you will see Edy Viewer, Debug Settings, and Install Package Files.

Now you have a Dehashed PS3 and the next step is to go to recovery mode.

Here’s is how to activate recovery mode on your PS3:

1. While your PS3 is on, turn it off by pressing and holding the power button until it turns off
2. When the PS3 is OFF, press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps
3. When this happens, the PS3 should boot up in recovery Mode (if it does not, repeat steps 1 and 2)

When you are now in recovery mode, you can now install any firmware that you want, may it be Rogero 4.30 or the Latest Official Firmware from Sony. (just select option 6)

Basically, UseNeXT is a subscription-based service that allows you to access view and download files from Usenet newsgroups and discussions boards. One of the best things about it is that the service is ad-free and you’ll have access to terabytes worth of data available for viewing of downloading. What also sets them apart from the other providers is that they have their very own usenext software which is a software client designed to make browsing newsgroups and downloading files from Usenet much easier especially for new users.

UseNeXT’s software client provides a simple way to browse newsgroups, files and other downloads. The program has a built-in downloader that makes the download process much easier. It has simple search function that will help you access and view tons of information available on Usenet. From the search, you can also add filters to help narrow down the results to only show you files of your interest and be able to easily download them. Another good thing about their client is that it can repair files you have downloaded when something has gone wrong, this is extremely useful especially when you have a few gigs worth of downloads and you do not want to start over again.

How to Toggle QA

Posted on December 3, 2012

A reader of this site gave me the idea to make a tutorial on How to Toggle QA flag, although I should have made this separate post earlier. This is for people who were asking How to Toggle QA so I would not have to answer each question one by one. Anyway, hope this helps.

Note: Toggle QA will only work on 3.55 OFW or CFW (Will not work on 4.21/4.30 etc…)

Here’s how to Enable QA Toggle flag:

    1. Download QA Toggle pkg here
    2. Copy the file to the root of your USB or external HD
    3. Insert your USB/External HD to your PS3
    4. On your PS3, go to “Install package Files” and install the QA Toggle PKG
    5. Once installed, run the “Rebug Toggle QA” on your PS3, (The screen will go Black and you will hear 2 or 3 Beeps and when finished it will go back to the PS3’s XMB, and if error comes up, just repeat this step.)

Now we can install either an Official Firmware 3.55 ( do not install any OFW higher than 3.55!), or 3.55 Kmeaw or Rogero 3.55. Here’s How to install Rogero 4.30 on your PS3

Tired of the old outdated iTunes 10? Well here’s good news for you, Apple has already released iTunes 11 available for download. The first thing you will notice is the interface, which if you ask me, is now more confusing than ever. Another thing you will quickly notice is that iTunes 11 loads up faster than iTunes 10, so that’s one good reason to update.

(Click images to view in full size)

iTunes 11

You will also notice that iTunes 11 has done away with the left sidebar that most of us has already gotten used to, so it will take some time to get used to the new interface again.

Download iTunes 11 here.
