A few days ago Sony has prematurely released the PS4 2.51 update but quickly removed it from their website. And now it seems the the 2.51 firmware update has now been officially released to the public.

PS4 Firmware Update 2.51 surfaces, then removed by Sony

The 2.51 firmware update was supposed to fix some bugs that were introduced by the 2.50 firmware update and users have been waiting for this fix. Sony has released the the updated on their PS4 firmware section on their website but removed it only after a few hours. Prompting many users that this was a rather premature release.

Sony did not disclose any information regarding the early released and removal of the update and this leads us to assume not many people were able to update using the premature release version to warrant any official explanation from them.

Here’s whats included in the PS4 2.51 firmware update:

  • System software stability during use of some features has been improved.
  • Operation quality during use of some applications has been improved.

You can download the PS4 2.51 firmware update (around 245MB) over-the-air or you can download the update file from the PlayStation website here.
